MOOT Limited – Terms of Use, Conditions and Disclaimer

1. Acceptance of Terms
These terms of service (this "Agreement") are between MOOT Limited and You and govern Your use of the Service.
By accessing, browsing or using the MOOT Limited platform, application, or any associated services ("MOOT Limited", "the Service"), you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Use, Conditions and Disclaimer ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the service. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any updates or amendments to these terms.
To use MOOT Limited, You must be at least 16 years old, have the legal right to enter a contract, and only access the service in accordance with these Terms. The User of the Service (You) is solely responsible for keeping login details secure, ensuring account information is correct, and for any activity on Your account.
MOOT Limited reserves the right to suspend or close your account if You misuse the platform, breach these Terms, attempt to harm, interfere with, or copy the service.
2. Nature and Purpose of the Service
MOOT is provided solely as an educational and informational tool for general interest purposes. The Service aggregates, analyses, and presents publicly available information alongside editorial interpretation for comparative and educational discussion only. Nothing contained within the Service is intended to constitute professional, legal, academic, recruitment, career, or media advice, nor should it be relied upon as such. The Service is not designed to replace independent research, professional judgment, or consultation with qualified advisors.
The Service is a research tool, and its output is not formal advice. The Output of the Service is AI-generated and may contain errors, misstatements or may be incomplete.
3. Usage
You may access, and we grant You the non-exclusive right to use the Service pursuant to the Documentation. Access credentials are specific to the user to whom they are issued and may not be shared, including within the same organisation. You will take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised use of the Service.
These Terms govern your usage of the Service. You will interact with the Service by subscribing and providing Input to the Service and receiving Output from the Service. You may only use the Service for Your educational purposes.
You may not (a) use the Service in a way that infringes, misappropriates, or violates any person's rights; (b) access or use the Service from within any Embargoed Countries; (c) attempt to reverse engineer or attempt to discover the source code or engineering of the underlying model and systems of the Service or MOOT Limited's subcontractors; or (d) attempt automated means to scrape content or Output from the Service.
To the extent that You provide us with any Feedback, we may freely use and incorporate any Feedback into our products and services. MOOT Limited may not utilise Feedback in a way that identifies or could be used to identify Customer, its users, Customer Data, Your Input or Customer's Confidential Information.
4. Subjectivity and Non-Reliance
All content made available through MOOT, including reliance, article selection, commentary, interview guidance, analytical frameworks, market observations, law firm references and comparative insights, is inherently subjective. Such content reflects general perceptions, publicly available sources and editorial opinions at the time of publication. It does not represent verified facts, official policy, internal recruitment criteria, endorsed comparisons, or accurate predictors of interview or recruitment outcomes. Any reliance placed on the Service is strictly at Your own risk.
5. PACT Intelligence
PACT Intelligence is a proprietary analytical framework developed by MOOT for educational and illustrative purposes only. It does not represent official law firm policies, interview methodologies, assessment standards, or verified recruitment preferences. PACT Intelligence is not endorsed, approved, or validated by any law firm, recruitment body, academic institution or professional organisation. You are solely responsible for verifying information independently, and for determining how, if at all, such information is used.
6. Intellectual Property and Use of Content
All intellectual property rights in and to the Service, including its structure, methodology and analytical frameworks (including PACT Intelligence), written content, design, branding and representation, are owned by or licensed to MOOT Limited. Use of the Service does not transfer any intellectual property rights to the user. Content made available through the Service may be viewed and used for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only.
Any reproduction, distribution, modification, republication, scraping, automated extraction or commercial exploitation of the Service or its content without prior written consent is strictly prohibited.
Users acquire no rights in any Output and may not reproduce, redistribute, publish, commercialise, or create derivative works from any Output without the prior written consent of MOOT Limited. Output is provided solely for personal, non-commercial educational use.
7. Fees and Payments
You are utilising the Service via an authorised free trial, and You agree that you will do so in accordance with your instructions from MOOT Limited. If we believe that You are not using the free trial in good faith, we may immediately terminate Your access to the Service. We reserve the right to limit the resources and features available to free trial users.
8. Terms and Termination
These Terms take effect when you first use the Service and remain in effect until terminated. You may terminate these Terms at any time by discontinuing the use of the Service and providing notice to us. We may similarly terminate upon notice at any time.
Upon termination, You will stop using the Service, and You will promptly return, or if instructed to do so by us, destroy any Confidential Information. The sections of these Terms that customarily would survive such an agreement will survive (for example, provisions around confidentiality, obligation to pay unpaid fees, etc.)
Within 30 days of termination, MOOT Limited will securely delete any remaining Customer Data or Content otherwise instructed by You.
9. Data Security and Processing
MOOT processes only the minimal personal data required to operate the Service, including your phone number, subscription preferences, and basic command inputs. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect User Data from unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. MOOT does not use User Data to train models and does not process freeform text, documents, or substantive user-generated content.
User Data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations, and upon termination of your account, it will be deleted within thirty days, except where retention is legally required.
10. Confidentiality
Each party agrees to handle the other party's Confidential Information with a standard of care that is reasonable under the circumstances and to use such information solely for purposes connected to providing or receiving the Service. Confidential Information does not include information that becomes public through no wrongdoing of the receiving party, information independently developed without reference to the Confidential Information, information lawfully obtained from a third party without restriction, or information that must be disclosed by law or regulatory requirement.
MOOT does not accept freeform user submissions or documents. Confidential Information relating to Users is limited to account details, subscription settings, and operational metadata necessary to deliver the Service.
11. Accuracy, Updates and No Warranties
MOOT Limited makes no representation or warranties, whether express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, availability, or fitness for any particular purpose of the Service or its content. Market conditions, legal developments, recruitment practices, interview formats, and institutional priorities change continuously and may render content outdated or inaccurate without notice.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. MOOT Limited makes no representations or warranties of any kind, implied or expressed, with respect to the Service, including warranties of merchantability, title, non-infringement, or fitness for a particular purpose, which are disclaimed. MOOT Limited does not represent or warrant that the use of the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of Liability
In no event will either party be liable to the other party or any third party for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages, including loss of income, data, profits, revenue, or business interruption, or the cost of substitute services or other economic loss, arising out of or in connections with these Terms, whether such liability arises from any claim based on contract, warranty, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not such party has been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law. In no event will either party's total liability to the other party or any third party for all claims in the aggregate (for damages or liability of any type) in connection with these terms exceed £500 (the "Liability Cap").
13. Availability and Technical Limitations
MOOT Limited does not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation of the Service. Access may be suspended, restricted or terminated temporarily or permanently for technical, operational, maintenance or commercial reasons without notice. MOOT Limited shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience arising from downtime, delays, data loss or technical failure.
14. Third-Party Content and Links
The Service may reference, summarise, quote or link to third-party content, including news articles, publications or external websites. MOOT Limited does not control, endorse or assume responsibility for any third-party content and makes no representations as to its accuracy, legality or reliability. Accessing third-party content is undertaken entirely at the user's own risk and subject to the terms of those third parties.
15. Prohibited and Restricted Use
The Service must not be used as the sole or primary basis for employment applications, academic submissions, professional licensing, regulatory compliance, official records, contractual decision-making, or legal purposes. Any such use is expressly excluded and undertaken entirely at the User's own risk.
16. No Offer, No Solicitation
Nothing contained within the Service constitutes or should be construed as an offer, solicitation, recommendation, or endorsement to apply to, accept, or decline any role, programme, institution, or opportunity. The Service does not recommend specific firms, employers, or career paths, nor does it rank or prioritise opportunities for decision-making purposes.
17. No Affiliation or Endorsement
MOOT is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any law firm, recruitment agency, careers service, professional body, academic institution, media organisation, or broadcast outlet. The inclusion or reference to any organisation or firm does not imply endorsement, approval or validation of MOOT, its methodology, or its content.
18. Promotional Materials
Any animations, illustrations, demonstrations, or promotional materials associated with MOOT are purely illustrative and not intended to represent the precise functionality, technical processes, data sources or internal operations of the Service. You are solely responsible for understanding how the Service operates.
19. User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for verifying all information independently and for exercising Your own judgement when using the Service. MOOT strongly recommends consulting official law firm publications, professional recruitment advisors, reputable media outlets and authoritative primary sources before relying on any information presented through the Service.
20. Testimonials, Reviews and User Statements
Any testimonials, reviews, endorsements, statements, or user feedback displayed on or in connection with the Service represent the personal opinions and experiences of individual users only. Such statements are inherently subjective, and reflect individual circumstances, perspectives and outcomes which may differ significantly from those of other users.
Testimonials and reviews are provided for illustrative and general information purposes only and must not be interpreted as guarantees, assurances, representations of typical results, or indicators of likely outcomes. They do not constitute professional, academic, recruitment, legal, or career advice and must not be relied upon in making employment, academic, professional or any other material decisions.
MOOT Limited does not verify, endorse, or independently validate the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any testimonial or review and makes no representations as to their truthfulness or applicability. Users acknowledge and agree that testimonials and reviews shall not influence or replace independent judgment, professional advice, or verification from authoritative sources.
21. Modification to the Service and Terms
MOOT Limited reserves the right to modify, update, suspend or discontinue any aspect of the Service or these Terms at any time and without prior notice. Continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
22. Severability
If any provisions of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision should be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
23. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
24. General Terms
Assignment
Neither party may transfer or assign its rights or obligations under these Terms without the prior written consent of the other party, except that MOOT Limited may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, corporate reorganisation, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets. Any attempted assignment in violation of this section will be void.
Subcontracting
MOOT Limited may engage subcontractors or third-party service providers in connection with the operation and delivery of the Service. MOOT remains responsible for the performance of its subcontractors to the extent such performance relates to the provision of the Service under these Terms.
Severability and Interpretation
If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Confidentiality
Each party, as the receiving party, will use reasonable care to protect the confidentiality of the other party's Confidential Information and will not use such information for any purpose outside the scope of these Terms. Access to Confidential Information will be limited to personnel and contractors who require access for purposes consistent with these Terms and who are bound by obligations no less protective than those set out here. Where disclosure is required by law or by court order, the receiving party will, to the extent permitted, provide advance notice to the disclosing party. The receiving party acknowledges that unauthorised disclosure of Confidential Information may cause irreparable harm, and that the disclosing party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in addition to any other available remedy.
Usage Data
MOOT Limited may collect and use aggregated, anonymised usage data for the purpose of maintaining, improving, and supporting the Service. MOOT will not share usage data that identifies you, nor will usage data contain any of your Confidential Information beyond what is strictly necessary for compliance, auditing, or operational security.
No Training
MOOT Limited does not use User Data, Input, or Output to train machine learning models or artificial intelligence systems. MOOT does not retain or review user messages beyond what is strictly necessary to provide the Service, fulfil operational requirements, or comply with applicable law. Any subprocessors engaged by MOOT are subject to the same restrictions.
Privacy Policy
Your use of the Service is also governed by MOOT Limited's Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Where a conflict exists between these Terms and the Privacy Policy, these Terms will take precedence as they relate to contractual obligations, while the Privacy Policy governs the processing of personal data.
Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, their subject matter, or formation are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales.
Jurisdiction
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service.
Data Processing
Where MOOT Limited processes personal data on your behalf, such processing will be carried out in accordance with these Terms and any applicable data protection laws of the United Kingdom. To the extent of any conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy regarding the treatment of personal data, the Privacy Policy will govern.
Notice
All notices under these Terms must be in writing and sent by email. Notices to MOOT Limited must be sent to sayhello.moot@gmail.com. Notices to you will be sent to the email address or WhatsApp number associated with your account. Notices will be deemed received when delivered to the receiving party's designated address.
No Waiver
Failure by either party to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver will only be effective if it is expressly stated in writing and signed by the waiving party.
Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and MOOT Limited regarding the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, understandings, or representations, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein. Each party confirms that it has not relied on any statement or representation not contained in these Terms.
Export Control
You agree to comply with all applicable export and sanctions laws and regulations of the United Kingdom and any other relevant jurisdictions. You represent that you are not subject to sanctions and are not located in, or ordinarily resident in, any country or region subject to comprehensive UK, EU, or US sanctions. You must not use the Service for the benefit of any individual or entity subject to such restrictions.
Force Majeure
Neither party will be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations under these Terms to the extent such delay or failure results from events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics or pandemics, labour disputes, utility failures, telecommunications outages, cyberattacks, governmental orders, acts of terrorism, or war. The affected party will use reasonable efforts to mitigate the impact of any such event.
25. Definitions
"Affiliate" means any entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with MOOT Limited.
"Confidential Information" means non-public information disclosed by either party that a reasonable person would consider confidential, including User Data and operational information. Confidential Information does not include Output or information that is public, independently developed, lawfully obtained from a third party, or required to be disclosed by law.
"Customer Data" means any user-related information processed by MOOT solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
"Export Control Laws" means all applicable sanctions, trade controls, and export restrictions of the United Kingdom and any other relevant jurisdictions.
"Force Majeure Event" means any event beyond a party's reasonable control that prevents or delays performance under these Terms, including natural disasters, epidemics, cyberattacks, utility failures, telecommunications outages, governmental action, labour disputes, acts of terrorism, or war.
"Input" means the minimal commands submitted by the User (such as the trigger word "PACT") and does not include freeform text, documents, or substantive user-generated content.
"MOOT Limited" means MOOT Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales, responsible for operating and delivering the Service.
"Notice" means formal written communication delivered by email in accordance with these Terms. Notices to MOOT Limited must be sent to sayhello.moot@gmail.com. Notices to Users will be sent to the email address or WhatsApp number associated with the User's account.
"Output" means the briefings, summaries, structured messages, explanations, insights, and all other content generated, compiled, or delivered by MOOT through the Service.
"PACT Intelligence" means MOOT's proprietary analytical and message-structuring framework used to organise commercial updates into Points, Analysis, Contextualisation, and Tie-backs.
"Restricted Person" means any individual or entity subject to sanctions or listed on UK, EU, or US restricted party lists. Users represent that they are not Restricted Persons.
"Service" means the commercial awareness briefings, summaries, PACT-structured messages, website, WhatsApp communications, and all related features and functionalities provided by MOOT Limited through https://moot.guru/ or via WhatsApp delivery.
"Subcontractor" means any third-party service provider engaged by MOOT Limited to support the delivery, operation, or maintenance of the Service.
"Usage Data" means aggregated, anonymised information regarding interactions with the Service, collected for the purpose of maintaining, improving, and supporting the Service, and which does not identify any User.
"User", "You", "Your" means the individual accessing or using the Service, and where applicable, the organisation on whose behalf that individual acts.
"User Data" means the personal information required to operate the Service, including phone numbers, subscription preferences, and basic command inputs.
MOOT Refunds & Cancellation Policy

This Refunds and Cancellation Policy explains how refunds, cancellations, and billing work for MOOT's digital services.
1. About our service
MOOT provides digital content and online services that may include:
- subscription access,
- online resources,
- downloadable or view-only materials,
- premium features or upgrades.
This policy applies whether you buy directly from our website or via an integrated payment provider.
2. Free accounts
If you use a free version of MOOT, you may cancel your account at any time directly through your account settings at: https://moot.guru/
3. Paid subscriptions and billing
MOOT offers paid subscriptions, you will be billed:
- at the price stated at the time of purchase,
- on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, if applicable),
- until cancelled.
All billing is handled securely by our payment provider (Stripe).
4. Your right to cancel under UK consumer law
If you are a UK consumer purchasing a subscription, you normally have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
However, for digital services, you will be asked to agree that:
- service begins immediately, and
- you lose the automatic 14-day cancellation right once you access the service or platform.
We will make this clear at checkout.
You can still cancel going forward (see below).
5. Cancelling a subscription
You can cancel your subscription at any time directly through your account at: https://moot.guru/
Once cancelled:
- You will continue to have access until the end of the current billing period.
- Your subscription will not renew.
6. Refunds
We offer refunds in the following circumstances:
(a) If we fail to provide the service due to a fault on our side
We will refund the affected period or provide an alternative remedy.
(b) If we have misrepresented the service
You may be entitled to a full or partial refund.
We do not offer refunds for:
- change of mind,
- unused periods of a subscription,
- forgetting to cancel before renewal.
7. Trials and promotional periods
If we offer a free trial:
- you will not be charged during the trial period,
- charges begin automatically when the trial ends,
- you may cancel before the end of the trial to avoid being charged.
8. How refunds are processed
If a refund is approved:
- it will be processed back to the original payment method,
- this usually takes 5–10 working days, depending on your bank or card provider.

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refunds and Cancellation Policy from time to time. Significant changes may be communicated to you by email or posted on the site.
