MOOT: Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") set out the rules for using the MOOT website and platform located at https://moot.guru/ ("MOOT", "we", "us", or "our").
By accessing or using MOOT, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What MOOT Provides
MOOT is an online platform providing:
- Digital legal and commercial news content
- Interview preparation briefings
- Online materials, resources, and insights
- User accounts and, if applicable, premium or subscription access
We may update or improve our service from time to time.
3. Who Can Use the Service
To use MOOT you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have the legal right to enter a contract
- Only access the service in accordance with these Terms
4. Your Account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login details secure
- Ensuring your information is correct
- Any activity on your account
We may suspend or close your account if you:
- Misuse the platform
- Breach these Terms
- Attempt to harm, interfere with, or copy the service
You can close your account at any time at: https://moot.guru/
5. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree NOT to:
- Use MOOT for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to disrupt or hack the service
- Scrape or extract data
- Impersonate others
- Upload harmful or offensive material
- Copy or reproduce content for resale or redistribution
We may take legal action (including suspension) if you violate these rules.
6. Intellectual Property
MOOT owns all intellectual property in:
- The platform, website, and features
- Text, branding, designs, logos, layout, and graphics
- Articles, briefings, and written content
You may not:
- Copy, sell, redistribute, or commercially exploit MOOT's content
- Create derivative works based on our platform or materials
- Use our trademarks without written permission
You only receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use MOOT.
7. Fees, Payments and Subscriptions
7.1 Paid Subscriptions
If MOOT offers paid subscriptions, you will be billed:
- At the price stated at the time of purchase
- On a recurring basis (monthly or annually, if applicable)
- Until cancelled
All billing is handled securely by our payment provider (Stripe Payment Solutions).
Billing terms are explained in Section 8 (Refunds and Cancellations) below.
7.2 Price Changes
You agree that we may change prices in future. If we do, we will notify active subscribers.
8. Refunds and Cancellations
8.1 Free Accounts
If you use a free version of MOOT, you may cancel your account at any time directly through your account settings at: https://moot.guru/
8.2 Your Right to Cancel Under UK Consumer Law
If you are a UK consumer purchasing a subscription, you normally have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
However, for digital services, you will be asked to agree that:
- Service begins immediately, and
- You lose the automatic 14-day cancellation right once you access the service or platform
We will make this clear at checkout. You can still cancel going forward (see below).
8.3 Cancelling a Subscription
You can cancel your subscription at any time directly through your account at: https://moot.guru/
Once cancelled:
- You will continue to have access until the end of the current billing period
- Your subscription will not renew
8.4 Refunds
We offer refunds in the following circumstances:
(a) If we fail to provide the service due to a fault on our side
We will refund the affected period or provide an alternative remedy.
(b) If we have misrepresented the service
You may be entitled to a full or partial refund.
We do not offer refunds for:
- Change of mind
- Unused periods of a subscription
- Forgetting to cancel before renewal
8.5 Trials and Promotional Periods
If we offer a free trial:
- You will not be charged during the trial period
- Charges begin automatically when the trial ends
- You may cancel before the end of the trial to avoid being charged
8.6 How Refunds Are Processed
If a refund is approved:
- It will be processed back to the original payment method
- This usually takes 5–10 working days, depending on your bank or card provider
9. Availability and Maintenance
We do not guarantee that:
- The platform will be uninterrupted
- Content will always be up-to-date
- Access will always be error-free
We may suspend the service for:
- Maintenance
- Technical issues
- Updates or improvements
Where possible, we will give notice.
10. Third-Party Links and Integrations
MOOT may include links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their content, terms or policies.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not responsible for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss
- We do not guarantee any results from using the service
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on information from MOOT
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (for example, for fraud or personal injury caused by negligence).
12. User-Generated Content (If Applicable)
If you submit content, you:
- Confirm you have the right to share it
- Give MOOT a licence to display and use it to operate the service
- Agree not to upload unlawful or offensive material
We may remove content that breaches these Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms.
You may close your account at: https://moot.guru/
On termination:
- Your access ends
- The licence to use the platform ends
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. We will post updated versions here. Significant changes may be communicated to you.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
